Judge Should Dismiss Defamation Suit against Bristol Palin, Jail Plaintiff and Lawyer for Contempt

A foul-mouthed heckler who last year verbally attacked the daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has had the audacity to file a defamation suit against his target.

According to Reuters, Stephen Hanks’ lawsuit also names as a defendant the Lifetime cable network that taped the barroom incident as part of an upcoming reality series starring Bristol Palin and her out-of-wedlock child.

Reuters reports: “Palin . . . had just ridden a mechanical bull at the bar when Hanks, who was a customer there, shouted out that her mother was ‘a whore’ and said she was ‘evil.’

“Video of the exchange . . . shows Palin, 21, confronting Hanks, asking him if he was gay, and getting into a heated exchange with the man who heckled her.”

Now, among other things, Hanks claims that having his sexuality questioned publicly by Palin was “degrading” and a cause of “emotional distress.”  Hanks’ lawsuit doesn’t explain why he disagrees with Jerry Seinfeld, George Costanza and other tolerant people who believe there’s nothing wrong with being gay. 

In any case, because the suit reportedly seeks more than $75,000 in damages, it was filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.  But regardless of how folks there feel about politics or the Palins, they should consider joining an angry nonpartisan mob and setting upon Hanks and his shamless mouthpiece, Michael Gulden, on the courthouse steps if the judge assigned to their case doesn’t summarily dismiss it and throw the parasitic pair in jail for contempt.
